While most german games take about 30 to 90 minutes to play, there are also other games that can take entire afternoons. These offer a different gaming experience from the shorter games, whether it is a cooperative effort to beat the game, like in "Shadows over Camelot" or "The Arkham Horror", or a requirement to think of long-term strategies, like "Vinci" or "Game of Thrones". And who could forget the classic "Settlers of Catan"?
Many of these games are not actually German, but they do carry on the same spirit of player interaction and no elimination. I should possibly mention that a certain game is not on this list for a reason. Once you've played some of these long games, you will truly be Beyond Monopoly!
Most of the time at Beyond Monopoly! there will be at least one of these longer games in progress - If you want to play, it is recommended that you show up before lunchtime, to make sure you're not missing it. Of course, if you do miss it, there is a vast array of shorter games to play that also challenge strategic minds.
Finally, there are some games which are just too epic to play in one afternoon, or that require too much space to be practical at Beyond Monopoly!. If you are interested in those games, Beyond Monopoly! is the ideal place to find others who share the same interests, and we have several private gaming groups that regularly play these games.
